Power outages are a common thing in India but 370 million people without electricity for 15 hours Monday the 30th of July was quite an ordeal. Of course they are not the only country to have problems with their power grid. Of late Brazil and the Unites States have experienced power outages. Are you prepared in the event of being without electricity for a time?
When the lights go out other things are not available such as gasoline and water that depend on electric pumps. Building climate systems will fail as the fans will not move and the heater or air conditioners will be off. Elevators and escalators with not be moving to help people get about. All electric gadgets including my laptop here will eventually lose there charge. There will be no microwave cooking or refrigeration. Let's eat the ice-cream first.
It can happen just about any time and does unexpectedly. Bad weather or bad people both can cause the power grid to fail. Human error or simply system failure can cause the electric grid to go down. Then there is the rare possibility of an X flare EMP or a man made EMP using a nuclear device. Have you ever experienced a blackout? What did you do to survive? Are you ready for an extended lack of electric service? (EMP = electric magnetic pulse)
