  • Tennis 3 x hard courts and 2 x grass courts (the hard courts have new LED floodlights);

  • Cricket the pitch is regularly used by Derbyshire County Cricket Club's 2nd XI;

  • Bowls large, floodlit, bowling green;

Four of our sports sections have vibrant junior sections and all sections always offer a warm welcome to new members, both playing and social.

Membership of the club is through any of its individual sections. If you, or any family members, would like to participate in, or find out more about, any of our 4 sports: Bowls, Cricket, Hockey or Tennis, please click on the link to the individual sport’s website for details and contacts.

Each of our sports sports has it's own website and organisation, so they should be contacted directly if you want to know more information. Contact details can be found in drop-down boxes above, or via the individual websites.

Club News

All Sections of the Club are now functioning again, and returning to something like the pre-covid normality. The Board will continue to monitor the situation and follow any further Government advice or instructions.

Thanks to all who helped the Club to resurface after the two floods over the winter of 2019-20, whether by direct action or by finacial donation. Similarly for those who helped after the November 2020 flood.

Record of the flooding

If anyone has photos of the flooding and particularly the clean-up, perhaps they could be added to those already collected. Those collected and other photos of the flood can be found at: 2019 Floods.

We are a small, friendly, Crown Green Bowls Club. In 2020 the Club will be running Twelve teams (3 Ladies, 2 Men's and 7 Mixed), six in leagues run by the South Derbyshire Associations and six with the Belper and Mid-Derbyshire Association. There is a programme of club competitions, and organised social bowling and social events. New members are always welcome, whether they wish to be involved in club teams or only in social bowling. Members can use the green whenever there is no match on it. Over the winter months, the club enters teams in several indoor leagues at the Alfreton Bowls Centre and organises club social bowling sessions.

Ladies Hockey

Belper Ladies Hockey Club was established in 1920 and has grown into one of the most successful clubs in the Midlands. Our junior achievements at Club through to National level, keep us at the forefront of Junior Hockey. We have 5 ladies teams - our Ladies 1st XI play in the National League.

We run junior age group teams, ‘Back to Hockey’ and have a thriving Mini Hockey group. We also join forces with our friends in the Men’s Hockey Club to play some very social Mixed Hockey, during the summer. We pride ourselves in creating a family orientated atmosphere, a welcoming attitude and our ability to offer a range hockey to suit all ages and abilities.

The Club, founded in 1880, has been a member of the Derbyshire County Cricket League for the last 25 years, and in 2017 will field three Senior Teams in the League. The newly formed Third XI is a development team looking to bridge the gap between Junior Cricket and the longer form of Senior Cricket. We also run a thriving Junior Section with seven teams playing in the Notts & Derbys Youth Cricket League, from Under 11 (soft & hardball cricket) to Under 17. Between May and Mid-July there is normally a Junior game on four evenings out of five, with the fifth evening being used for training.

We are a friendly Club, with 3 Floodlit hard courts and 2 Grass courts; new members, both Juniors and Adults, of any standard of play, are welcome to join us. We have a good coaching team and we hold regular coaching sessions for Juniors. Adult Coaching is on Monday night for those that wish to improve their standards. Our Adult Club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays start at 7pm and we play in all weathers throughout the year. We have 6 teams which play in the Derby Summer League and 4 teams in the Winter League. We have several social arrangements during the year including Tournaments, Quiz Nights and Dinners.

Men's Hockey

Hockey for “Man and Boy”. We have three generation families playing in our seven league teams catering for all abilities. From the “friendly” 7ths to the highly competitive Firsts (Derbyshire’s elite Men’s team) we welcome all abilities, including those who want to come “Back to Hockey”. You will find International standard players in the Veteran Teams (who play regularly) and our junior squads. In the past few years the boys have been National Champions at U11 to U18 levels. Mini Hockeyintroduces children aged 5 to 12 to hockey in a safe and fun way with caring coaching. Our mixed male/ female teams who play more for social enjoyment complete our Hockey Family.
