My first day there, I peeked through the engine window to take this shot.
The day we departed for Melbourne, I met the engineer and he took me inside the engine.
And this is the actual power unit that pulls the train.
This is our buffet car. The food was actually quite tasty and very reasonably priced.
This is an XPT compartment. It has a nice big window so you can see out during the day and two beds that fold down for sleeping. It's big enough for three or four people during the day.
They didn't have any brochures that showed the route the train took, so the conductor took this one out of its display slot in the First Class carriage and let me photograph it and copy the route onto my Australia map.
