The Cavalry's Last Hurrah
Day Four:
Today we spent time in the rebuilt castle in Perrone! Once destroyed during the great war it was rebuilt after and is now a great war memorial for all sides, including the United States, British and Commonwealth, French, German and Ottoman Turk uniforms.
I was honoured to be riding in full Scarlet uniform of the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry and Blues of the Queens Own Yeomanry presenting our awards to the town, the biggest was the recovered Essex Regiment tuba (which all was lost in the German advance and recovered in the castle after the British recaptured the town).
Tomorrow we're off to Moreuil Wood to a ride into the hand to hand fighting between the German and Canadians at the cavalry charge we recreated the other day.
