19. ARC Perimeter Fence Breached in Traffic Accident

Unfortunately there was a road traffic accident which affected our site late last year (2020). A civilian van in trying to avoid an head on collision with a vehicle coming towards it from the opposite direction, mounted the kerbside on the Woodhouse Lane side of the Army Reserve Centre and smashed into the perimeter fence, causing some serious damage. Fortunately no one was injured and the old DLOY WW2 gun that sits just inside the wire beyond that particular point of the fence escaped unscathed. The permanent staff had to leap into action to secure the site from potential intruders by erecting a temporary fence.
