One day is not enough to appreciate the beauty of the area.

Consider to stay two days along the entire line of the Bernina and dell'Abula from Tirano to Thusis.

Special tickets are available for two days at 72 euro.

For the journey to the customs you must show your passport or identity card.

Types of trains:

REGIONAL TRAIN:

for this train does not need reservation, it is ideal for a stopover or excursions along the path as you can get off at each stop and get on the next train (when the next train is a BERNINA EXPRESS you can occupying the seats of the STANDARD carriages or in front of the train). Every hour depart a train from Tirano and arrives in St. Moritz in 2 hours and 30 minutes (see the following table-times). Tickets can be purchased at the station before departure or through specialized travel agencies (see bottom of page).

Available types of carriages:

STANDARD: "classic" carriage of the Red Train characterized by large opening windows, for those who like to take pictures in comfort.

CABRIO: (Available in the summer months)  completely open carriege for a total experience contact with nature!


BERNINA EXPRESS (BEX):

for this train booking is compulsory only for the panoramic carriages with domed glass. If you decide to get off the train one stop you lose the right to the seats in an panoramic carriage, but you can still get on the next train, occupying the posts of STANDARD carriages or in front of the train (the same thing for those who decide to travel on this train without a reservation).

Tickets and reservations can be made directly at the RHB Railway or by specialized travel agencies (see bottom of page).

Available types of carriages:

PANORAMIC: (Reservation required with surcharge) modern and air-conditioned. Have large panoramic windows (non-opening) that allow the traveler to enjoy an incredible visibility!

Types of tickets and approximate prices :

STANDARD TICKETS:

The ticket round trip 2nd class Tirano / St. Moritz costs 64.00 CHF.

Children under 6 years of age: free travel.

Children aged 6 to 16 years old:

pay 50% of the ticket

or

when accompanied by an adult can buy

a day pass for the price of 16 Swiss francs in 2nd class.

The panoramica carriage requires the reservation of a seat with a fee of 14 CHF each way in summer and 5 CHF during the winter. The cost of the supplement also applies to children up to 16 years and children under 6 years if they occupy a seat.

(Bernina line + Albula line)

72 CHF

valid ticket for the entire route Unesco Tirano-St.Moritz-Thusis. The ticket entitles you to two days of travel on the entire path to be made within four days from the date of first use. On travel days you can make all the stops you want and go and come back several times.

Ticket ideal for those who decide to do toboggan run Preda - Bergün.

GraubündenPASS 1/2/5 days

(Southern Region for the Bernina Line)

The General Train and bus subscription for the Graubünden:

Available for a region of preference (North / South) or throughout the Grisons (all regions).

GraubündenPASS Types:

For two days within a week (CHF 75.00-South Region)

For five days within two weeks (CHF 110.00-Southern Region)

The graubündenPASS Bike is also available (CHF 45.00-South Region)

Sledding run Preda - Bergün:

It starts from Tirano and you get to Preda from where you can get down on the sled along the main road closed to traffic and specially equipped to Bergün.

This route is outside the path of the Bernina Express Tirano-St.Moritz but an extension. Therefore i recommend buying UNESCO special ticket.


How to reach Preda:

Red train will start from Tirano and after the Bernina Pass it comes down to PONTRESINA.

From PONTRESINA you take the train to Scoul (track 1) and the second stop is down to SAMADEN.

From SAMADEN you take the train to Chur (tracks 2-3) and the third stop down to PREDA.

The duration of Tirano-Preda trip is about 3 hours.


Arrived in sledge to Bergün:

If you want to make another skid, take the train to St. Moritz and the first stop go down to PREDA.

If you want to return you always take the train to St. Moritz and the fourth stop it comes down to SAMADEN

From SAMADEN you take the train to PONTRESINA where you descend.

From PONTRESINA you take the train to Tirano (track 4).

Check the train schedule for the return,

approximately the last train that arrives in Tirano at 19:00 starts from Bergün at 16:14

The duration of the Bergün-Tirano trip is about 3 hours.

The toboggan run is open every day during the winter, depending on snow conditions:

Monday:

09:30 to 17:00

Tuesday through Sunday:

09:30 to 23:00
