Environmental - Landscape

"This series of six images resulted from visits to Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf over a period of years. During this time there has been increasing evidence of human interference on the landscape and 'Inroads' is a statement on this. The road from Whangaparapara cuts through the islands high central ridge exposing clay cliffs once clothed in regenerating bush (inroads One-Three). As it drops down to Claris and the sea, the scars become less prominent (Inroads Four) until, at Kaitoke, only the flat dusty road skirting stream and swamp marks human 'progress'. (Inroads Five-Six)."
