The Department of Veterans Affairs
has sent a large tablet with President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address to many of its national cemeteries.
Rotary Club of San Bruno in conjunction with the Avenue of Flags Committee raised funds to have the tablet mounted on an attractive base and installed on the cemetery's grounds.
On November 11, 2011 after the Veterans Day Program ended, the newly mounted tablet was unveiled. As part of the dedication ceremony,
Frank Hedley, former president of the Rotary Club of San Bruno, gave a speech and the Gettysburg Address was read by "Abraham Lincoln". John Musgrave, associated with Hillbarn Theatre
represented Abraham Lincoln for the unveiling.
Carolyn Livengood was instrumental in getting the Rotary Club of San Bruno to play a major role in donating funds and arranging for the work to be done. After architect and San Bruno Rotarian
Robert George designed the monument for the tablet, the Rotary Club, in partnership with the committee and Kathleen McCall, the director of the cemetery, contracted with V. Fontana & Co. in Colma to make and install the granite monument and F. Ferrando & Co. in South San Francisco to pour the concrete foundation. Wayne Parker, the current president of the Rotary Club of San Bruno, was also instrumental in getting this project completed.
