House Rules

Cavalry House Rules

BKC II treats Cavalry as infatry mounted on transport (with several restrictions on their use) as opposed to specialist fighting units with seperate rules. To enable Cavalry to be successfully used in AVBCW the following house rules have been developed. All page numbers refer to Blitzkrieg Commander II from Specilaist Military Publishing:An Army may have a maximum of 6 Cavalry units

Dismounted troops use the stats for "Infantry unit (Regulars), P 132, mounted Cavalry use the following stats:

    • Mounting and dismounting is as per the rules in the "Passenger" section p18
    • Shooting from horseback incurs a -1 modifier to hit, (i.e those in the open are hit on 5+ not 4+) Units in hardcover (walls, building, trenches, pits, pillboxes, bunkers) that normally require a 6 to be hit, therefore cannot be hit by cavalry fire from horseback.
    • When hit but not knocked out, Cavalry units do not dismount like other passengers, but remain on horseback suppressed.
    • Mounted Cavalry units may initiate close assault, as long as at least 2 Cavalry units are assaulting the same enemy base and at least one of them is attacking the rear or flank.
    • All rules for close assault are as per p30 and 31, however Cavalry units do not dismount on contact. When calculating the number of attack dice to be rolled, Cavalry units attacking the front edge of a base recieve a -2 modifier.
    • In close assault Cavalry untis are always hit as if in the open and hit others with a -1 modifer (i.e those in the open are hit on 5+ not 4+).
