AMSI allocates a travel allowance annually to each of its member universities (for list of members, see http://amsi.org.au/membership/members/). Students or early career researchers from AMSI member universities without access to a suitable research grant or other source of funding may apply to the Head of Mathematical Sciences for subsidy of travel and accommodation out of the departmental travel allowance; see http://research.amsi.org.au/travel-funding/.
Travel Authorization
All international participants are required to obtain an electronic travel authorization to visit Australia. See this site.
Accommodation:
Participants are required to book their own accommodation by contacting the hotel directly. The Hotel's reference for the conference is "University of Queensland Conference 13-18 December 2015". To get the special rates fill out this form and email it to the address given on the form.
We have negotiated the rates:
One bedroom standard apartment: 147 per night.
One bedroom with ocean view: 167 per night.
Two bedroom apartments: 245 per night.
An easy google search reveals that there are many other hotels and hostels nearby as well. There is also AirBnB places available nearby.
Airport Shuttle
The closest airport to the conference is Sunshine Coast Airport. It is a 15 taxi ride from Mooloolaba.
Brisbane International Airport serves more flights and is about an hour drive from Mooloolaba. There are various shuttles that bring you close to the Conference centre. See, thisor this company.
We don't recommend going to the Gold Coast Airport for this conference as it is more than two hour drive away.
Family:
For those coming with family, there is plenty of activities and attractions; see also this site.
Partners can either buy their own lunch a la carte and sit with us for eating. Note also that there is a Kitchenette in most rooms in Mantra Hotel and there is a grocery store downstairs.
