Our Green & Ethical Policy
Brands
We select brands that we feel are leading way and can be used to showcase to the world, how green and ethical a company can be. We look at a range of factors: what is the product made of, its packaging, the labour used to make the products, its carbon footprint etc. We hope individuals, groups; associations and businesses can learn from these companies and start to apply the same if not similar principles in a number of ways. We hope you can take the principles, whether it is in your day to day lives, supporting change or how to operate as a business.
Fighting for safe cosmetics, fragrance and skincare products for women, men and children
It was only by accident I learnt about how exactly what goes into my make up. Dry, itchy, flaky skin? All of sudden got an allergy? If you knew the same ingredients are use in detergents wouldn’t you think twice about what products you use? Large companies argue that the amount added to the product is neglible. But just think about the number of years you put your face cream, soak in the bath? Years??? Then think of the number of different products you use for different reasons? Foundation, face cream, mascara? Do you want to take a gamble with your health and wellbeing? Our policy is simple. We aim to support Brands that are leading the way in bringing to the everyday consumer safe products that support your beauty, health and wellbeing.
Environmental
We try to look at all our operations and how we can make everything we do environmentally friendly. Here are some examples.
Brands: Ensure each brand has or is working towards a green and ethical ways of operating.
Bags: We source from local, companies that recycle.
Re-use: We reuse anything we can. E.g. when the goods used, we re-use their packaging.
Carbon footprint: We always look at ways to reduce our carbon footprint. This could be telling an online order customer to visit us at a local show, reducing packaging/carbon; choosing shows that are local, or tailored to support green and ethical causes.

We created Just Soaps & Body Care in 2006. Our granddaughter who suffered from eczema inspired us to research possible causes for the condition and create our own soap using 100% natural oils and butters. Following redundancy we took the plunge of producing a range of soaps without using the harmful chemicals and preservatives found in over 96% of commercial products.
Just Soaps & Body Care use only 100% natural ingredients. None of our products or ingredients are tested on animals and they are free from additives which have been reported to be harmful to our bodies or the environment, such as Parabens, SLS, Propylene Glycol or petrochemicals to name just a few. In fact we do not add anything except pure essential oils and use only natural colourants. Where available we use local ingredients including, Swithland Spring Water, Beeswax, Goat's Milk, Honey, Oats, Lavender and Herbs
Our products are tested by an independent toxicologist and conform to the latest stringent EU regulations.
None of our products are tested on animals, only friends and family.
We use only recycled and biodegradable materials for all our packaging and stationery.
We pride ourselves in the knowledge that we source our supplies from as many small local businesses as possible - buying from Just Soaps & Body Care products means that many local businesses benefit.

Once a barren plateau, the region of Auroville has been transformed into a lush green area in which a city is progressively taking shape. Over the past 40 years, Auroville has grown into an expanding community of some 80 settlements inhabited by about 1,800 people from and from 30 other countries. The residents are engaged in a wide range of activities. These include amongst others:
Researches in Environmental Regeneration
Organic Farming
Renewable Energy
Appropriate Building Technology
Village Development
Handicrafts
Small Scale Industries
Health Care
It is these projects that are an essential form of employment for the 40,000 inhabitants of the surrounding villages of Auroville. The Auroville community works closely with these villages to improve their infrastructure, their education and health care.
Maroma's and Flame's products are made in Auroville. The principals of Maroma and Flame were among the first founders of Auroville and their activities reflect the principles of the region. Maroma returns 40% of its profit to the community.

SOURCING LOCALLY AND WHY
WHILE OUR FRAGRANCE MATERIALS AND INSPIRATION COMES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, WE TRY TO KEEP MUCH OF WHAT WE DO RIGHT HERE AT HOME.
Pacifica manufactures in the U.S.A. This gives us greater control over ingredients, the manufacturing process, product quality and the working conditions of our employees.
Pacifica supports our local economy, working with local box manufacturers and other suppliers. This is requires less shipping of goods into our facility, which in turn means less energy use, less green house gas emissions and reduced carbon footprint.
Another reason we believe that supporting local businesses is healthy for our community is the fact that many studies have shown that locally owned businesses are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future. This means more jobs, better tax revenues and a healthier, more vibrant community for our employees and their children.
Pacifica supports local charities and donates products to local women’s shelters. Studies show that working with local charities can have an immediate positive effect on a local community.

CANDLES
All of our candles are made in the USA in our own factory in Portland, Oregon.
LEAD-FREE WICKS
All Pacifica candles contain lead-free wicks. Pacifica quality control team spends countless hours testing our wick-to-wax ratio to ensure a proper burning candle for every fragrance.
COLOR
Pacifica has worked diligently to become REACH-compliant with our candle colors. This means that we use vegetable oil based solvents to disperse color pigment into our wax bases.
Pacifica uses a propriety non-GMO soy wax blend in our Soy Candles. Soy wax is a bi-product of the soy industry. It burns well and consistently lifts fragrance into the air.
We use a highly refined paraffin wax in our pillar candles. Paraffin is a by-product of the petrochemical industry and would otherwise be waste.
