The 200th anniversary of the opening of the current church building was celebrated in 1990. This building is a category B listed building, listed on 12 March 1971 (Ref:1916). The comments on Historic Scotland's listed building website note that it was rebuilt in 1790, and the aisle that projects from the West end of the south side was probably added later. Interesting internal features include heraldic panelling dated 1702.
Much more information of this nature is contained in the document referred to in the last paragraph below.
Celebrations began on Sunday 10th June with an open-air communion service. Subsequent activities included a Fete (7 July), Parish supper (21 September - Sir David Steel as guest speaker), Antiques and social evening (28 September); Exhibition (29 September), and a service of dedication led by Rev William Morris, D.D, PhD, LLd, JP., minister of Glasgow Cathedral (30 September).
To mark the occasion, the then minister at Ashkirk, Rev Ian Strachan, together with Alasdair Allan, currently MSP for the Western Isles, compiled a booklet entitled "The Story of Ashkirk, 1790-1990".
