Like all registered charities, Ashkirk Parish Church is required to prepare an Annual Report and Accounts in a format and content specified by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). This document is produced for each period up to the end of our accounting year (31 December). Prior to its submission to OSCR, the document is presented to the congregation's Annual Stated Meeting, and copied for their approval to the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles, and the Church of Scotland. The Report is independently examined by a qualified accountant following its approval by the Kirk Session.
As well as checking that the Church is operating within the Charities' Regulations, OSCR also publishes the Church's gross annual income. The Church of Scotland also uses the income information in order to provide an income basis for the Church's future Ministries and Mission contributions.
