Ramadhan karim and I hope you are fine.

Following our last communication I would like to share that we actually have 2 times Islamic banking research forum (FRPS) this year which are:

1. In Medan (North Sumatera) on September 29-30, 2011

2. in Bandung (West Java) on December 15-16, 2011.

FRPS is actually our annual agenda and this year we plan to arrange to 2 FRPS above.

We do appreciate your kindness to accept our invitation to give a professorship (prominent scholar) lecture in FRPS in Bandung on December 15-16, 2011. Besides you, insha Allah we also have had a confirmation from Prof. Volker Nienhouse to give the same lecture. So we will insha Allah have 2 professoship lectures in Bandung.

However, for the FRPS in Medan, we plan to have a professorship lecture from Dr. Obaidullah (IRTI) and Dr. Zamir Iqbal (World bank) and Dr. Obaidullah has confirmed to come. But, we are afraid that Dr. Zamir iqbal is not able to come due to some reasons.

As such, if you do not mind, would it be possible for you to to give a professorship lecture in Medan (September 29-30th, 2011) together with Dr. Obaidullah instead of giving lecture in the one in Bandung?

However, if you may only give a lecture in Bandung and can not give it in Medan, that's also fine for us as the most important one for us is to listen to your professorship lecture either in Bandung or medan.

Lastly, insha Allah today we will send you the formal invitation letter (signed by our deputy governor). The letter schedules your lecture in Bandung but up to your availability we are happy for you to still give lecture in Bandung or in Medan.

I wait for your kind reply. Thank you so much indeed.

Salam

Dear Dr. Asad Zaman.

How are you Brother? I hope you are fine and happy Ramadhan as well for you and your family. First of all, I am Rifki Ismal, a bank researcher at Directorate of Islamic Banking - Bank Indonesia (the central bank of Indonesia) in Jakarta.

I am writting this email to you on behalf of Bank Indonesia because we insha Allah plan to arrange the event called “Bank Indonesia’s Islamic Banking Research Forum (FRPS)” on December 15-16, 2011. The forum is established by Bank Indonesia to facilitate the academias and researchers to present their best-awarded research papers on Islamic finance and economics.

The competetion for best call for papers is national-wide and the participants of the forum are from the universities all over the country. The audience will be professors, senior students and Islamic bankers, targeted 300 audiences. The venue of this year ‘FRPS’ will be at University of Padjajaran, in the City of Bandung - West Java, Indonesia (http://www.unpad.ac.id/).

The main agendas of the forum are: (i) prominent scholar lectures, (ii) professorship lecture (by local professor on islamic finance, and (iii) presentation of research papers.

Regarding this event, we would like to humbly invite you to be one of the prominent (world) scholars in the field to speak a topic about Islamic economics/finance/banking. We do hope to learn a lot from your expertise, knowledge and experience on Islamic economics/banking and finance and we would be very please if you could kindly accept our invitation and come to Indonesia.

We wait for your kind reply Dr. Zaman, and once we have your positive respond, we’ll manage to send a formal invitation letter and other necessary arrangements.
