W5N/PW-003 Chimayosos Peak 2021-09-11
I activated Chimayosos Peak during a seven day backpacking trip. The Pecos Wilderness in New Mexico is an amazing area for backpacking. I set up a base camp near the Truchas Lakes, took a day off to acclimate to the elevation, and then hiked to the summit of Chimayosos (12841') for the activation. Approach was up the West Fork of the Rio Santa Barbara, and I exited down the Middle Fork of the Rio Santa Barbara. I used a KD1JV AT Sprint 3 QRP rig, and an 44' inverted L fed against a few radials. The antenna tuner was an EMTECH ZM-2.
