ARouSA. Alive Resouces Stock Assessment.

ARouSA is an application written on Microsoft Visual Basic and Visual Basic Application for Excel. It aims to facilitate the use of standardized procedures for the stocks evaluation and technical advice on the exploitation and conservation of shellfish resources.

The new version has a different interface, accessible from the desktop, where the tools are grouped according to their utilities.

The stock assessment tools facilitate the calculation by sampling, stratified or not, using pits or dredges, linear transects, trawling, or a combination of two of these techniques. These tools are specially designed for stocks and population dynamics of benthic species. The application includes also a specific tool for assessing barnacle stoks.

Advisory tools allow to obtain standardized length - weight relationships, calculate mortality rates, to infer the evolution of populations over time and standardize controls size of the catch.

A number of tools for habitat characterization is also included. These tools facilitate the calculation of bathymetry and tidal level, calculating area, lengths of trawling or straight transects and standardized size grain analisys.

Excel 2003, 2007 or 2010 is required as well as, average level of macro security and analysis tools.

Version 13 includes two updates:

1.- The capacity of data import forms has been amplied from 601 to 2000 individual or size items per sample unit.

2.- Tool Anexos_FEMP has been included. This tool alows to export data and results obtained with ARouSA to standar forms for FEMP descriptors. This tool has been funded by Dirección Xeral de Desenvolvimento Pesqueiro, Consellería do Mar (Xunta de Galicia).
