2012
September 2012 Laser Technology Laboratory (LTL) of Antalya International University has become operational with the arrival of first set of tables, diode drivers, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers, optomechanics etc... LTL currently occupies 30 m2 of climate-controlled, state-of-the-art research space on the ground level of the faculty building (room AB-12). So far, LTL has attracted about 1 Million TL of total funding from TUBİTAK, European Union, Humboldt Foundation, Konstanz University and Antalya International University.
September 2012 Dr. Demirbas gave an invited talk on Cr:Colquirrite lasers titled "Dalgaboyu ayarlanabilir, verimli, kompakt ve ekonomik Cr:Colquiriite lazerleri" at the Fotonik 2012 Conference. The conference was held at Koç University on Sept 14,2012 and had more than 300 participants mostly from institutions in Turkey. This invited presentation gave Dr. Demirbas the opportunity to introduce his research to the photonics community in Turkey. For more information, please follow the link.
August 2012 Dr. Demirbas has been awarded with 6,500 Euro from the Return Fellowship Support Program of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The support will be used to establish long-term collaborative relations with Prof. Alfred Leitenstorfer's Group at Konstanz University and Dr. Demirbas's Group at Antalya International University. For more information, please follow the link.
July 2012 Laser Technology Laboratory will receive 265,000 TL of support in the next years from the TUBİTAK National Young Researchers Career Development Grant (3501). The fund will be used initiate research efforts on development of diode-pumped, low-cost and efficient optical sources broadly-tunable in the blue (375-425 nm) and near-to-mid-infrared (750-850 & 1100-3000 nm) regions.Tunable cw and femtosecond sources at these spectral regions are critical for many scientific and technological applications. Hence, the proposed developments will potentially help wider spread use of this technology, which we hope to accelerate and transform fundamental research in several important areas of science and technology. For more information, please follow the link.
July 2012 Laser Technology Laboratory has been awarded with 20,000 Euro from the equipment subsidy program of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The support aims to help Humboldtians (Humboldt fellows) to continue their research projects started in Germany at their institute abroad after their stay in Germany has come to an end. This is one way of sponsoring sustainable collaboration with academic hosts or other specialist colleagues in Germany well beyond the duration of the initial stay. Dr. Demirbas was an postdoctoral Humboldt fellow at Konstanz University of Germany, in the group of Prof. Alfred Leitenstorfer. This support will help Dr. Demirbas o transfer his know-how from Germany to Turkey, and will enable him to continue his cooperative work with Prof. Leitenstorfer. The support will be used to purchase laser diode controllers for the Antalya International University Laser Technology Laboratory. For more information, please follow the link.
