The Metropolis Garden Club meets on the second Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Metropolis Community Center during the months of September through June for a business meeting and a program. During the summer months we schedule field trips.

The next official Metropolis Garden Club Meeting will be held on Monday, September 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the Metropolis Community Center, 900 West 10th Street. Hosts are Shiryl Walquist and Joyce Taylor. The program will be a talk on Kincaid Mounds by Dr. Paul Welch. Anyone with an interest in gardening is welcome to attend.

We have many ongoing projects, which include planting the black kettle at the Massac County Courthouse and around the flagpole at the Metropolis Library, planting and maintaining a small pollinator garden at the Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center, planting at the Veterans Park and at the Blue Star Marker at the I-24 rest area, planning pollinator gardens, separating and packing trees for 3rd graders for Arbor Day with the Massac County Soil and Water Conservation District, providing garden therapy activities at area nursing homes, providing floral arrangements for the Metropolis Library during National Garden Week, decorating the Curtis Home at Christmas, an annual plant sale, and more.
