District VII Annual Spring Meeting

President’s Report
It is always a pleasure to spend time with garden club members in District VII. You put into action the goals of The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. and National Garden Clubs, Inc. Your enthusiasm as you share your plants, time, labor and knowledge throughout your communities is remarkable! Your clubs take advantage of the resources in southern Illinois and take delightful trips to special places nearby. Your clubs are open to new ideas, such as hosting evening meetings, and are ever vigilant about the needs of the people in your communities. You take such good care of your gardens and plantings that bring bounty and beauty to your neighbors. You reach out beyond your borders as you collect money for the national project, “Penny Pines,” to help replace damaged trees. I congratulate you on all that you do and I am impressed at how industrious and generous you are!
As Youth Activities Chairman of GCI, I appreciate your participation in the Youth Contests and the activities that your clubs plan that include and inspire children. Keep up the good work!
I encourage you to attend the GCI Summer Meeting on Monday, July 13 in Champaign. Since our Annual Convention was cancelled because of the virus, we have invited our National President, Gay Austin, to attend. She looks forward to meeting us and installing our new state officers. Awards will be distributed and District IV has planned a wonderful event. Tori Corkery, District IV Chairman, and her committee have planned fun activities for Sunday afternoon, too, so come on Sunday and make some new garden club friends. Details will be in the next GardenGlories.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
Marilyn Krueger, President 2019-21
