Research Team

We are looking for motivated Ph. D./M. S./M. Tech. students to join our research group in July 2024. Research at our lab is very interdisciplinary and involves a good mixture of engineering, mathematics, and computing. Most projects will involve a healthy combination of developing new numerical algorithms, and their application to problems in geosciences, defense, mechanical, and civil engineering. Graduates of the lab will have potential opportunities in national laboratories, academia, and R&D centers of multinational companies.

Salman Khan

Salman is a Ph. D. student at the lab and holds an M. Tech. in Civil Engineering from NIT Rourkela. Salman is working on the development of adaptive phase-field methods to model fracture propagation in subsurface systems. Salman is the recipient of the International Immersion Experience travel grant at IIT Madras to visit our collaborators at UPC Barcelona.

Wasim Niyaz Munshi

Wasim Niyaz Munshi is a Ph. D. student at the lab and a recipient of the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship. Wasim holds a B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from NIT Srinagar. He is working on developing 3D fracture propagation algorithms on large-scale computing platforms for modeling coupled thermo-mechanical failure in orthotropic composites. Wasim is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship and the International Immersion Experience travel grant to visit our collaborators at the Colorado State University.

Abhisek Chanda

Abhisek is an M. S. student at the lab and holds a B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from NIT Silchar. Abhisek's research focuses on developing phase-field methods for modeling fatigue crack growth in orthotropic composites.
