Teaching

The University of Mississippi

I most recently taught at Muskegon Community College, in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. I enjoy the privilege of serving as the Instructor of Record for higher education courses in a variety of formats, including traditional lecture, physical activity, and distance-learning.

I have also been an instructor for American Red Cross classes since 2010. I am certified as a Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor for organization-led classes and for the general public.

During my doctoral studies, I taught for Texas A&M University in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences. There, I was the Instructor of Record for RPTS 301: Leisure and Outdoor Recreation in American Culture.

In addition, I served as a graduate teaching assistant for Dr. Jim Gramann in RPTS 316: Recreation Management of Wildlands, Mr. Paul Serff and Mr. Miles Phillips in RPTS 300: Attraction and Destination Management, and Dr. Gerard Kyle and Dr. Mike Schuett in RENR 400: Study Abroad in Natural Resources.

After graduation from the University of Mississippi, I joined the faculty and continued teaching as a full-time adjunct for both traditional and online courses within the Park and Recreation Management undergraduate degree program. The creative challenge of helping my program transition its lecture courses into successful distance formats was very rewarding.

In 2012, I was nominated by my students and selected by my peers to receive Ole Miss's Paragon Award for Excellence in Distance Teaching.
