Biocatalysis of xenobiotics by microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) for enzyme and biochemical mechanism discovery.
Genetic and metabolic engineering of novel enzymes and organisms for the overproduction of proteins or metabolites using advanced biotechnology techniques.
Bacterial identification and taxonomy as a means of discovering new taxa and uncovering their potential.
