Jacob Corbet left Maryland with his wife Mary Howard for Kentucky following the Revolutionary War, in which he enlisted at Port Tobacco, Charles County, Md., on 2 March 1777. Jacob Corbet is thought to have died on 6 June 1842 in Washington County and been buried in the graveyard of St. Rose Church there. His son James Martin Corbett married Nancy A. Bannister in Marion County and the couple moved to Hardin County. James apparently adopted the surname "Corbett," with the additional "t" that was used by his descendants. Their son George Washington was born in Hardin County after the family moved to Meade County, his brother Charles Ignatius Corbett was born. Charles was a prominent citizen of Stithton later in life and married Kate Buckman. Both are buried at St Patrick's Cemetery located on the Fort Knox military base on land donated to the church by the Corbett Family.
George Corbett's first marriage was to Sarah and their son James Athantius. James would grow up in Meade County, marry Lucy Buckman and move to Ohio. On Dec 1872 George married Mary Frances "Fannie" Shircliff, daughter of Joseph and Catherine Shircliff. Their children were Catherine, Fladget, Philomena, Ambrose, John and George. G.W. Corbett was known as quite a wheeler dealer and his goal was to provide a farm for each of his children. Interestingly, Fannie's brother William Shircliff, who married Mary Catherine Ray was the father of Martin Shircliff, who married Eva Whelan, and Henry Shircliff, who married Sallie Bell Whelan, daughters of Thomas and Lucy Whelan. Loma's brothers Fladget married Ellen Pike in 1900 and Ambrose married Dolly Hardesty. John married Mary Yates, who died in childbirth and then Anna Mae Knight. and George Albert married Mary Verna Sipes and farmed in Vine Grove, Kentucky.
George Washington Corbett died in 1919 and wife Fannie died in 1932. They are buried at St Martin's Cemetery in Flaherty.
