Character Repository
Please feel cordially invited to send your Ambarquenta characters (or any other game-related stuff) you'd like to share with the community by email to olorwe@gmx.at. We'll be glad to upload and attach your character(s) to this section for you!
Note that some of the characters presented in this section may be assigned a certain “level”. Although Ambarquenta does not normally use the abstract concept of experience levels to describe character advancement, some Turambari may wish to have such a measure when creating prominent NPCs or gauging relative group strengths.
Optionally, it is one possible measure to count the number of full sets of development picks (as gained each during youth and apprenticeship) a character has earned since completing apprenticeship. For an average character with a regular activity level, it takes about ten to twelve years of veteran development to accumulate one full set of development picks. More active periods of hazardous adventure may drastically shorten this span. No matter how long it takes to accumulate the required picks, one full set of development picks can be referred to as an “experience level” or simply “level” when creating NPCs.
Currently, there are four packages of characters (last updated 2012-01-12):
Men: Six variations of common Men, three of them with average population attribute scores (using 99 buy points), three of them built with 120 attribute buy points. Experience levels vary from naught to two.
Orcs: Six variations of the common Orc, three of them with average population attribute scores (using 99 buy points), three of them built with 120 attribute buy points. Experience levels vary from naught to two.
Sample Player Characters: Six different ready-to-play characters. These are the archetypes from the core rulebook, including Erland from Lake-town, Gori from Erebor, Grimgár the Beorning, Halward from Dale, Menelor of Dol Amroth, and Thorongil from the Woodland Realm. Please note that the above link directs you to the download package containg the characters without any veteran experience (i.e., as presented in the core rulebook). A package with these archetypical characters at experience level 7 can be downloaded here (note that Ambarquenta experience level 7 roughly equals Decipher's Lord of the Rings RPG advancement 15 to 20).
