Dec 13, 2025: The first book is selected as Living Fire by REAL's founder.
Living Fire offers a sustained philosophical engagement with one of the most contested questions in the philosophy of religion: how claims of divine manifestation and spiritual revelation can be meaningfully evaluated within an empiricist framework. Taking David Hume’s argument on miracles as its primary analytic lens, the work neither defends nor dismisses Christian claims, but instead examines the epistemic assumptions that underlie their assessment.
Through a close reading of Hume, supplemented by Spinoza, Hegel, Berkeley, and contemporary philosophy of mind, the book explores whether human cognition is exhausted by sensory experience and testimonial transmission, or whether additional noetic modes of knowing are conceptually admissible. Paramahamsa Yogananda’s interpretations of the life and teachings of Jesus the Christ serve as a focal case, not as doctrine, but as philosophical data demanding careful analysis.
Rather than treating miracles as violations of natural law, Living Fire reframes the discussion around transformed consciousness, interior evidence, and the limits of classical empiricism. The result is a work positioned at the intersection of philosophy, comparative religion, and epistemology—addressed to readers interested in reasoned inquiry, intellectual humility, and the possibility that the deepest questions of religion may concern not events in the world, but transformations of the knower.
