My Short and Long-Term Goals (as of June 12th, 2012):
I have applied for USF’s College of Nursing for admittance for fall 2012! My goal is to be accepted and maintain my 3.98 GPA throughout the program. Following graduation, I would like to work at All Children’s Hospital as an RN. I will need to work for three years to gain the experience I need in order to apply for USF’s incredibly competitive CRNA Graduate Nursing Program. My ultimate goal is to get my Master’s degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and continue working at All Children’s! My long-term goal is to integrate my love for dance and my career in nursing by developing a warm-up that all nurses will be required to perform before beginning their shift. This will prevent strains and other associated injuries involved when working with patients as well as promote health and well-being for all health professionals.
My Short and Long-Term Goals (as of May 9th, 2013):
I am currently enrolled at USF’s College of Nursing working towards my BSN! It is important to me that I maintain my 4.0 nursing GPA for the duration of the program. I believe that my time in this program is best spent if I am making my own contribution to nursing education. I was recommended by my professors, based on my grades, to work as the program tutor for first year nursing students. If hired, I will be leading online tutoring sessions for an audience of up to 120. Following graduation, I would like to work at All Children’s Hospital while continuing my education in USF’s competitive Master’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. Considering the fact that I thoroughly enjoy teaching others and sharing my knowledge and experience, I am also aspiring to receive my Master’s in Nursing Education and teaching at USF. If I can be instrumental in molding the future nurses, I will be forever content with my role in this world. My long-term goal is to integrate my love for dance and my career in nursing by researching about and developing a nurse’s warm-up before each shift. This will prevent strains when working with patients as well as promote health and well-being for all healthcare professionals. It is also very important to me, as a newly announced lesbian, to not only focus on emphasizing equality for all individuals but also to spread awareness of the importance of LGBT health. I am very excited about my future plans and will work tirelessly in order to achieve each and every one of them.
My Short and Long-Term Goals (as of November 11th, 2013):
I am in my third semester at USF CON! I have continued to keep my 4.0 nursing GPA thus far. I currently have my clinicals at Bayfront Medical Center for Med-Surg II but have been volunteering my time at Bay Pines VACHS in order to get exposure to a telemedicine clinic program with the Infectious Disease multidisciplinary team. In addition to my time at the VA, I currently work for the College of Nursing tutoring online for up to 120 students in both Pharmacology (semester 1 students) and Med-Surg I (semester 2 students). I absolutely love it! In tutoring these students in a subject that I am so passionate about and enjoying teaching about has showed me that I would like to continue contributing to nursing education in the future as well. I graduate in August with my BSN and hope to get a job at either Bay Pines VACHS or All Children's. I am hoping that a few months of experience in the clinical setting as a nurse will give me the exposure I need to feel competitive when applying for USF's Pediatric (Fall 2015) or Family (Spring 2015) Nurse Practitioner programs. Otherwise, my long-term goals are the same as listed above!
My Short and Long-Term Goals (as of July 8th, 2014):
I am in my final semester at USF CON! I have maintained a perfect 4.0 nursing GPA throughout the entire program. I currently have my clinicals at All Children's Hospital in the CVICU for my final semester Preceptorship.
I currently work for the College of Nursing tutoring online for up to 120 students in Pharmacology and I absolutely love it! In tutoring these students, I have created a desire to ultimately return to the University of South Florida College of Nursing to pursue a teaching position when I acquire my master's degree in Pediatrics. I graduate in August with my BSN and hope to get a job at All Children's Hospital as part of their competitive Pediatric RN residency program. During the spring of 2015, I plan on applying to USF's Pediatric DNP program to pursue my doctorate in pediatric nursing practice. Following graduation with my doctorate in Fall 2019, I plan on working as adjunct faculty at the USF College of Nursing while starting out as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
