The All Connecticut Chinese Chorus (ACCC, 2006) is comprised of students, faculty, scientists, and administrators from Central Connecticut State University, Connecticut Community Colleges, University of Connecticut, and Yale University. Its mission is to promote education and cultural diversity and showcase Chinese choral music.
As an active choral group, most recently, we received a silver award at the New York Chinese Choral Festival held on September 27, 2014. In September of 2014, we hosted East Meets West Concert in Hartford, Connecticut. In June of 2013, we successfully hosted Chinese Folk Dance and Choral Music show at CCSU. In December of 2012, our members joined Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus in a World Choral Festival in Vienna, Austria. The team performed in various venues in Vienna including the Golden Hall of Vienna. With its outstanding performance, the team captured a Gold Award and our Artistic Director, Mr. Wanjun Qiao won the award of Best Conducting.
The ACCC has proven itself a talented musical group through appearances in a series of notable musical events. We perform regularly in the Chinese Culture Center's New Year's Gala as well as the Hartford Dragon Boat Festival. In October of 2009, we organized the Melody of the Autumn Concert held at the Central Connecticut State University. In July of 2009, we participated in the World Choral Competition in Montreal with the members of NACA and Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus and received three awards:One laureate and two 2nd Place Laureate. In January of 2009, we hosted the Chinese New Year Celebration concert - Qingdao Symphony Orchestra.
ACCC is a member of the North American Chorus Association (NACA) and actively participated in the NACA's Christmas Concerts, Warm China 2008 concert, China Earthquake Relief concert, and Happy Gathering Concert. Other performances include Yellow River Cantata concert at Yale University and in Boston, Sounds of Harmony in Boston, and the competition led by Boston Eastern Heritage Choir at the Fourth World Choir Games in Xiamen, China where the group won a Silver and a Bronze.
Among all these memorable moments, what make ACCC’s members proud the most are the two Connecticut Chinese Arts Festivals held at Yale University in 2006 and 2007. The ACCC continues thriving with the mission to promote arts and cultural exchanges in its future endeavors.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director, Mr. Wanjun Qiao, the ACCC is striving for continuous growth with the mission of promoting Chinese choral music in Connecticut and the US, participating in community cultural activities, and enriching its members' musical appreciation. With enthusiasm, the ACCC is making its effort to become one of the best Chinese choruses in the US.
