Ten years ago, North American Chorus Association successfully presented Yellow River Cantata concert in Woolsey Hall of Yale University. This year, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of World War II and to pray for World Piece, North American Chorus Association will once again render this classic Chinese choral work. Under the baton of Maestro Wanjun Qiao, near 300 singers from All Connecticut Chinese Chorus and North American Chorus Association, together with accomplished soloists and a reciter will present a top quality musical treat to Connecticut audience.
On this concert, North American Chorus Association will present Yellow River Cantata in its entirety of eight movements.

About the Artists

Wanjun Qiao, Conductor. Wanjun Qiao graduated from Central Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music. He has successfully organized over 100 large scale concerts and performances. In 1998, Mr. Qiao became the Chairman of North American Chinese Performing Arts Association. He founded North American Chorus Association (NACA) in 2007 and has been its Chairman and Artistic Director since then. Conductor Qiao and choirs under his direction received a Silver Award at New York Chinese Chorus Competition in 2014, a Gold Award for chorus and an Excellent Conducting Award in 2012 Vienna World Choral Festival. He led choirs to two silver awards in mixed voice choir category and icultural choir category, and one laureate award in adult female choir category at 2009 Montreal International Choral Competition.

Lydia Qin Wu,soprano. Qin Wu graduated from Qufu Normal University, Shandong Province, China, with piano major, then studied opera at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, California. She has been invited to participate in domestic and foreign large-scale theatrical shows. In 2012 she was invited to participate in the Chinese CCTV-4 special Spring Festival Gala; in 2013 she was invited to participate Spring Festival "double support party". She has held numerous solo in National Theater of China. She is also the first overseas Chinese American musician to perform solo in National Theater of China.
Robert Weintraub,Baritone, has performed in opera, oratorio, concert, musical theater, and contemporary music. Important lead roles include Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème with Arizona Opera, The Bronx Opera, Center City Opera Theater, Connecticut Grand Opera, and Taconic Opera, Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd with Arizona Opera, Marquis D’Obigny in La Traviata with New Orleans Opera, Perchick on Fiddler on the Roof with Chautauqua Opera, as well as Escamillo in Carmen, and Haly in L’Italiana in Algeri with Lake George Opera. He has also been previously featured on the stages of The Ashlawn Opera Festival, The Brevard Music Festival, Ohio Light Opera, Opera Carolina, Opera Memphis, Opera Northeast, and Sarasota Opera. Recent engagements include in Orff’s Carmina Burana with The Queen’s College Choral Society, Germont in La Traviata with The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, a return to The New Britain Symphony for Valentine's Day Concert, West Side Story Celebration with The Syracuse Symphony, and Leo Kraft’s Seven Hebrew Songs in New York City.
Zhongtang Lv, famous Chinese reciter in Australia. He has been judge for Chinese program TV host contest in Australia of 2015; art director of 2013 "Water Cube Cup" of Australia; former Sydney Multicultural Broadcasting Group SBS Mandarin Chinese literature program producer and presenter; director of Sydney Oscar Chinese Phonetic Teaching, Expert of Chinese Education Center. In 2011, he performed recitation of the Yellow River at the Sydney Town Hall; In 2000 he recited for Yellow River Cantata at the Sydney Opera House. This time he will bring to us the purest, most intimate accent, interpreting the soul and spirit of Yellow River.
