We have two reasons to open a bottle of wine tonight:

First, we celebrate Alicja’s 1st hearing birthday today (her Auditory Brainstem Implant has been activated on the 12th of March 2012 in Verona:)).

Second, thanks to the Sunday’s Zumbathon for Alicja’s leg surgery, we reached the amount of 30 thousand USD on Alicja’s treatment account :). We know, it is only a small amount comparing to what we need, but the red area on our fundraising chart (the one showing how much we raised) is getting bigger and it looks like we will soon have a quarter of the total amount.

We wish to thank Jola and Nina (from Starwood Hotels & Resorts), Aga, Danny, Fabiola and Adriana (Fitness & Dance Studio Cork), Louise (from Get Fit Stay Fit) as well as our Capoeira friends for organizing this wonderful Zumbathon for Alicja. Thank you also Starwood Hotels and Resorts and the Gresham Metropole Hotel Cork for sponsoring the event. Thank you everyone who helped Alicja by coming and buying the ticket. We raised over 1720 Euros in just one day!

We also wish to thank everyone who forwarded our appeal to their friends and family. We recently received many donations from people we don’t know and we think this is thanks to those of you who help us to spread the news about Alicja. Thank you also to all these people unknown to us personally for donation towards Alicja’s treatment. Remember, Every penny counts!

We now look forward to another fundraising event that will take place in a much warmer place on the earth: Brazil J Our Friend Nina Graduada Cabaca just published her own CD that will be sold during the Iee Camara festival in Wenceslau (Brasil) on the 16th and 17th of March. Every CD sold will add 2 Reals (1 USD) to Alicja's treatment account. Thank you our Capoeira Friends: Nina Graduada Cabaca and Profesor Escorpiao Branco!

We wish we could jump into the warm Brazil to participate in the Iee Camara festival… Well pictures will have to be enough for us. However, we have to say; even if the day of the Zumbathon the rain in Cork didn’t want to stop, the atmosphere in the Metropole Hotel’s ballroom was very hot. We wish to thank Starwood Hotels and Resorts for organizing a St. Valentine’s Day Sale in their office in Cork to support Alicja's leg surgery. There were beautiful, handmade hearts, cookies, cards on sale. All these goodies were so popular that Starwood managed to raise 653.88 Euro for Alicja in just one day! it's a wonderful result! Thank you!

Today we also celebrated the first anniversary of Alicja's Auditory Brainstem implantation in Verona. We really hope that next Valentine's day, we will have another reason to celebrate...
