Spiritual Growth Coordinator

I am a retired over-the-road truck driver. My husband and I worked together for 32 years and I have lost track of the number of miles We drove, but I'm pretty sure my miles are in excess of 3,000,000! We came to Alaska in May of 2019 on what we thought of as an extended vacation. By December, we had purchased our home and started to put down roots. I started attending Soldotna UMC in July o 2019 and officially joined in 2020.

On my wall is posted the question, "Why Am I a Christian?" In today's climate, being labeled a Christian has taken on a sobering and unpleasant connotation, therefore I am much more inclined to want to answer the question, "Why do I Serve?"

As we continue on in these pandemic times, trying to get back to our "new normal", my husband Rob and I are still actively coordinating the Wednesday Night Dinner To Go program at our church. We still have a very dedicated group of cooks who provide a full meal every week and Rob and I facilitate its serving and delivery for pock-up.

I am happily a part of our Chime Choir, I continually work in our church garden, and I am also active in Soldotna UWiF as a co-director with Susie Smalley. I am a Lay Speaker and part of a group of women who teach Sunday School to our youngsters.

I am always willing to raise my hand when any church or social needs arise. After 32 years on the road, it is a blessing for me to BE available to do the work our faith calls us to do. Faith without deeds is dead as James 2.17 tells us, but for me...it is completely unfulfilling.
