IT Personnel

IT personnel is simply composed mainly of two people: The automation library system manager and his Assistants. Due to the system being purchased by IT department of AIU, This IT personnel does not have system developers and IT programmers. However, there is a liaison between the IT and media service department of AIU and the automation library system. The IT personnel is provided with roles to give the best services to AIU library patrons

Job description:

Like his name states, he is the head of the library automation system. He is in charge of all the activities that are conducted in the library, such as acquisitions cataloguing, OPAC and circulation which compose the 6 modules. His job is to ensure the smooth running of the library automation system in order to support the library activities. He must make sure that the library is in working order and safe. The automation library system manager also troubleshoots problems within a library and develops procedures and methods that result in better customer and employees relations. The manager must be comfortable with technology, especially computer technology. He uses databases, organizational softwares and the internet to provide services and keep track of materials and patrons information.

The assistant manager of automation library system

Job description:

Assistant librarian help the manager in the day-to-day tasks that need to be done in order to keep a library running. Assistants assist patrons with transactional services such patron registration, loan, renew, return and fines. The other roles of assistant is to record malfunctions, provide references materials and shelving books in the shelves.
