EVITA
The Inventory and Transportation Problem, ITP, is a subclass of the Inventory and Routing Problem which consists of minimizing both the inventory and transportation costs of a retail chain supplied from a central depot, with added restrictions at the shop level.
EVITA is a two-level tool designed to address the ITP. The top level uses an evolutionary algorithm to obtain the weekly delivery patterns so that the inventory costs are minimized, while the lower level solves the vehicle routing problem (VRP) for each day of the week in order to obtain the transport costs.
