Notes: Challinor & Mayer were only in business one year: 1887. Edward & Charles Challinor were in operation from 1862 to 1899 at the same factory. So this pattern was created by Challinor & Mayer in 1887, but produced by E. & C. Challinor after 1891.
This sort of thing was not unusual. There were hundreds of pottery companies at this time and many only lasted a few years and so to protect themselves many had multiple companies with different partners. If one went bust the others carried on. It was also not unusual for different companies to share the same pottery factory.

Notes: Newstead Abbey, in Nottinghamshire, England, was formerly an Augustinian priory. Converted to a domestic home following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it is now best known as the ancestral home of Lord Byron.
Notes: Raby Castle is a medieval castle located near Staindrop in County Durham, England. It was built by John Neville, 3rd Baron Neville de Raby, between approximately 1367 and 1390. Cecily Neville, the mother of the Kings Edward IV and Richard III, was born here. After Charles Neville, 6th Earl of Westmorland, led the failed Rising of the North in favor of Mary, Queen of Scots in 1569, Raby Castle was taken into royal custody.
W. J. Reid & Co was an importer located in London, Ontario, Canada. W.J. Reid's father founded the business in the 1840s.

Notes: Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from a wooden fort, originally built by William the Conqueror during 1068. Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England, situated on a bend of the River Avon. The original wooden motte-and-bailey castle was rebuilt in stone during the 12th century. During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognizable examples of 14th-century military architecture. It was used as a stronghold until the early 17th century, when it was granted to Sir Fulke Greville by James I in 1604. Greville converted it to a country house and it was owned by the Greville family, who became Earls of Warwick in 1759, until 1978 when it was bought by the Tussauds Group.
