Black Star Canyon itself is a canyon in the mountains of Saddleback. It is a fun, and creepy, place to go. There are countless stories of people being chased away from locals who live deep in the canyons. About 5 miles down the road into the canyon, there is a place called Hidden Ranch. Black Star Canyon is also know for its mining history. Back in the 1870's there was a coal mine, however it didn't last too long due to poor coal quality. The mine, is about a mile down the road past the gate. The miners lived in a small town at the end of the canyon called Beeks Place. There are ruins still standing from this 19th century village.
