Additive manufacturing (AM) processes are used to create objects by building them layer upon layer directly from digital designs. They allow for the fabrication of complex geometries and intricate internal structures that would be impossible or too costly to produce using conventional techniques.
The term covers a wide range of technologies, including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Cold Spraying (CS), among others—each offering unique advantages depending on material requirements, precision, and application.
Since 2009, we have investigated additive manufacturing processes through a series of research projects with researchers and industrial partners from Greece, the Northwestern Polytechnical University in China, and the Ufa State Aviation Technical University in the Russian Federation have produced to date a number of scientific papers on these subjects.
