How many books can I borrow?

The table below shows you how many books you are able to borrow from our Libraries at any one time, depending on the type of Library Account you have.

Borrowing privileges vary for different membership groups.

AIT- Students - Book Bank – 3 books for 180 days and After 180 days 1₹ per day, no Renewal options 

AIT- Students - Regular Books – 3 books for 14 days and After 14 days 1₹ per day, three Renewal options 

AIT- Students - SC/ST Books –2 books for 180 days and After 180 days 1₹ per day, no Renewal options 

How do I know my borrowing status?

Users can login to the library's online catalogue to know their book borrow status. The catalogue can be accessed by using the URL OPAC

Do I need to carry my Identity (ID) Card while visiting the library?

Yes. ID card is must to visit the library and especially for issue and return of books

Does the library provide photocopy service

At present Library does not provide photocopy service. Allowed them to take outside. 

How many books are there in AIT?

There are over 82000 print books and 15000 e-books/Journals in AIT-LRC.

To search or browse these books, perform a search in OPAC.  

How do I get a copy of old question papers?

User can download previous year question papers from our Institute Repository  (IR). 

How do I access University subscribed online resources off-campus?

Users can access online resources on-campus through Knimbus software. Users will have to login into https://ait.knimbus.com/ application. To access within campus users need not login, they can directly go to publisher’s link to access the resources. For off-campus need to login

How do I renew the books online? 

Users can renew the books online through OPAC three times, or they will have to bring the books to library counter for subsequent renewals.

Users will have to login into http://lrc.acharyainstitutes.in/  OPAC, through mobile or laptop and Log in to your account. Also to view the option to renew borrowed books.

How do I can self-checkout books?

Users can also self-checkout the books through self-check-in and check-out RFID Kiosks during library transaction hours. RFID ID card is mandatory for the same.

How do I become an AIT-Library member?

Users can also register for AIT-Student membership or faculty membership, through an online form accessible from the Acharya Library's homepage. The URL ACHARYA can be used to access the form.

What should I do if I have lost my ID card? 

Users will have to report to their respective programme office/Coordinators/representative regarding loss of cards. A temporary library card may be issued to them if they need to use library facilities till the time they get the new card, or request latter through proper channel.

Can I donate personal copies of my books to the Library?

The Library recognizes that donations may help to complement, broaden and enrich the Library’s collections. 

However, with limited space and resources, the Library must be selective in accepting donation requests. It is also important to provide clear terms and conditions to potential donors on how to request and how the Library will handle donated items. 

Please consult our chief Librarian to check whether the books you wanted to donate meet our criteria and for instructions on how to make the request. 

Are the libraries in open on public holidays?

AIT libraries in are closed on public holidays.

Can I borrow reference books?

Reference books are to be read inside the library. 

How do I reserve the book? 

Books can be reserved through online catalogue (OPAC).  

Can I borrow magazines/journals

Magazines/Journals are to be read inside the library. Magazines/Journals cannot be borrowed, 

What are the library timings during examination? 

The Central Library will remain open 14 (08:00 AM to 10:00 PM) hours from Monday to Saturday and from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM on Sunday.
