LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS
1.Introduction & Scope
Rules governing the administration and use of AIT Library shall come into force from 1st of June 2006 and shall be called as AIT Library Rules. It shall be binding on each and every member/user of the AIT Library. All the previously existing library rules and practices shall be superseded by these rules.
These rules were framed, modified & adopted by the Library Committee Meeting held on 25.5.2006. Further amendments and modifications if any shall be made as and when required by the Library Committee and be incorporated in these rules from time to time.
2.Library Timings: 8.00 am to 10.00 pm
3. Members of the Library
The following are the categories of the members of AIT Library:

4. Procedure for Enrollment
4.1 All the above categories of users may fill in the prescribed application and submit the same along with a two-stamp size latest photograph.
4.2 The faculty members may enrol themselves as library member on the production of a copy of the appointment order and two stamp size latest photographs.
4.3 The membership shall be for the entire four years.
4.4 Membership may be cancelled at any time by the Chairman of the Library Committee on the recommendation of the Member Secretary on valid ground.

6. Rules Related to Borrowing of Books
6.1 Books and other documents borrowed from the library should be returned within the due date prescribed, failing which a fine of Rs.1/- per day per book up to seven days, Rs.5/- per day per book after 7 days & Rs.10 per book per day after 14 days. Renewal can be allowed once only but the books is not in demand by others. The physical presence of the book is a must.
Book Bank books can be retained entired semester and these books should be returned immediately after completion of the exams. Other wise over-due charge will be applied as per the Library rules.
6.2 Every member of the faculty must get his/her books renewed once in a month. The defaulters will not be allowed to borrow the books till they return the earlier years borrowings.
6.3 Books from the special collection, Reference books, journals, Thesis & dissertation, Non-book materials are not to be issued outside the premises of the library.
6.4 All the students shall return the books borrowed from the library before commencement of the examination and get No Dues Certificate from the Library. The name of the defaulters shall be reported the Head of the Department and Principal to withhold the Admission Ticket to appear for the examination, result and marks cards.
6.5 The employee of the college who resigned/voluntarily retirement shall have to return all their borrowings & procure “No Dues Certificate” from the library in order to enable the institute authorities to settle their salary/documents/retirement benefits.
6.6 Books & other reading materials borrowed by any user may be called by the librarian any time & should be returned within 24 hours or within the period specified in such communication.
6.7 Duplicate Membership Card/borrower ticket/RFID shall be issued only on the payment of Rs.100/- per card along with a justification letter for the loss.
6.8 Every reader, borrowing library books/other documents shall be responsible for the safe custody and return of the same in undamaged manner.
7. Rules Relating to Loss of Book
As per the decision of the Library Committee meeting which has been held on 15.04.2013, lost books can be replaced with the following conditions;
Same copy (title, author, edition, year, pages, etc.) of the book shall be replaced along with over-due charges, if any.
Latest edition of the book is not allowed to replace.
If same copy of the book is not available in the market, then the looser shall pay double the cost of the book along with over-due charges, if any.
Old or second hand books shall not be accepted.
8. General Rules
9.1 Every reader/user entering the library should keep their belonging at the property counter. Use the property counter for safe keeping of the belongings with the locker key, which is available at the counter. While leaving the library the keys should be returned.
9.2 Every reader/user shall present his/her Identity Card issued by the College while entering the library or on demand by the library staff.
9.3 Every reader/user should enter his/her name & other details in the Entry Register maintained at the counter.
9.4 Loud talking, conversations, discussions etc, are strictly prohibited in the library.
9.5 Use of Mobiles within the Library premises is strictly prohibited and penalty of Rs.100/- will be charged if mobile is carried inside the library without switching off.
9.6 Any problems regarding library should be brought to the notice of the librarian/library committee members/Principal immediately.
