The Urban Geography Specialty Group (UGSG) board elections are fast approaching! Nominations for board positions are now being accepted for the following positions:
The main responsibility of board members is to plan the Urban Geography plenary session at the AAG annual meeting and to moderate the UGSG award competitions. Board members can also take a lead in organizing UGSG-sponsored events. Our current student members, for instance, are planning a graduate-student social event in Boston (more on that soon). The Treasurer participates in the same activities as regular board members but is additionally responsible for managing our budget and distributing funds to awardees.
Board members must maintain their AAG and the UGSG memberships for the duration of their two-year terms. Student members should only run for the student position if they plan to keep their student status for the next two years. You may nominate yourself or prod another UGSG member to run for a board position. Our current board will remain in place until April 30, and the new board will take over on May 1.
Nominees should email me (cnagel@mailbox.sc.edu) with the following information by midnight EDT on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29:
Information about the nominees will be posted on the UGSG discussion board by Friday, March 31 and balloting will be open from MARCH 31 through FRIDAY, APRIL 14. All UGSG members will receive a link to an electronic ballot. You will receive multiple reminders to submit nominations and to vote!
