HDGC will sponsor a series of sessions highlighting scholarship on Vulnerability, Resilience, and Adaptation to Climate Change at the 2018 annual meeting of the AAG in New Orleans.
This year we will continue to highlight important areas of HDGC scholarship through a special symposia and themed activities around Vulnerability, Resilience, and Adaptation to Climate Change. While board members had the impact of Katrina on our host city, New Orleans, in mind when we selected this year's theme, the topic is especially salient as coastal communities in gulf states and islands cope with the aftermath of hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
The theme, however, is not limited to scholarship on the plight of coastal communities. Indeed, HDGC scholarship has a rich tradition of grappling with human vulnerability, resilience, and adaptation to climate related events. In this special symposium, we seek to highlight new research, frameworks, and methodologies for disentangling these concepts.
If you would like to contribute an individual paper or align a session with this symposium, please contact Paige Fisher (apfisch@umich.edu) or Scott Stephenson (stephenson@uconn.edu).
