2025 HDGC awards ceremony and keynote

At our 2025 Awards Ceremony and Keynote, we will recognize Maria Carmen Lemos for her many years of leadership in the field of human dimensions and her broad legacy of work in climate adaptation and the role of knowledge in building adaptive capacity. Lemos has been a lead author for reports from the IPCC, the US National Climate Assessment, and served in a number of US National Research Council committees, representing the HDGC community and pushing the boundaries of co-production, adaptation, and science writ large. She will be introduced by Matt Hamilton and in her keynote will share reflections on her work-to-date as well as her perceptions of the future of HDGC research.

As he was unable to attend AAG 2024, we will also recognize 2024 Research Excellence Award Winner, Dr. David López-Carr, Professor of Geography at the University of California at Santa Barbara, for significant contributions to understanding of population dynamics and land use/land cover change. Dr. López-Carr will also be recognized with the 2025 JEDI award in recognition of his efforts to promote equitable participation in the Human Dimensions subfield.

We will also recognize our 2025 Student Paper Award Winner.

In addition, we will hear updates and accomplishments from the winners of the 2024 Student Research Award and 2024 JEDI award.
