Abstract: CPM Scheduling is currently the industry standard for planning projects, communication with stakeholders and determining delay claims. Along comes the Last Planner System © which incorporates those doing the work, aka “the last planners” and focuses on removing roadblocks and creating flow on the project. How do projects use both systems at the same time? The complete and final CPM, known as the Baseline, is required usually very early in the project, normally within 30 days of NTP. This time frame is usually unrealistic to have the actual foreman from all trades performing the work involved in the detailed planning of the project. This presentation will discuss the strengths and weakness of both approaches and how each of them can complement each other to deliver a successful project.
