Introduction

The 6th Norway-Scotland Waves & Marine Hydrodynamics Symposium will take place between 8-10 May, 2019 in the premises of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in George Street, Edinburgh. As with the previous 5 symposia held in Oslo (2008, 2013, 2017) and Edinburgh (2010, 2015), it will be organised under the auspices of the agreement signed in 2005 between the Norwegian Academy of Science & Letters (DNVA) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) to promote increased collaboration between the national academies of Norway and Scotland.

The Symposium will be held over 3 days and it will be supported by funds provided by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Norwegian Academy of Science & Letters. The Symposium will include a special session marking the retirement and 75th birthday of Professor Peter Davies, the co-Director of the DNVA-RSE Waves symposia since their inception. Presentations will be made by invited researchers from Norway and Scotland, together with international experts from the UK and overseas. Participation in the symposium is open to all, subject to capacity limitations of the venue.

Expressions of interest in attending/participating in the Symposium should be addressed in the first instance to magda.carr@newcastle.ac.uk as soon as possible. In cases where funding cannot be provided for participants, a registration fee of £200 will be levied to cover the costs of meals and refreshments at the symposium.
