Preferential rates have been negotiated for symposium participants with the Mercure Princess Street Hotel and the Mode Aparthotel. For the Mercure Princes Street the rates are £145.00 per night for single occupancy of a double room and £156.00 per night for double occupancy. Breakfast is included. Charges for the Mode Aparthotel are from £120 (single) and £140 (double), no breakfast included. Rooms may be booked at these rates using the booking form. Credit card details are required to make a booking but payment for the accommodation is made at the hotel at check out.

Both hotels are close to the symposium venue and to the main thoroughfare and shopping street of the city. The hotel will hold the rooms at the preferred rates until 26 March2019, after which date neither the rates nor the availability can be guaranteed.

Any reservation can be cancelled or modified without charge up to 24 hours before check in.


For your guidance, the symposium will start at 13.30 on the 8th May, 2019 (registration at 13.00) and will end in the late morning of 10th May, 2019. This schedule is chosen to be convenient for those travelling to and from Edinburgh from Oslo and UK destinations on the 8th and 10th May, 2019, respectively. There will be a drinks reception and banquet at the Royal Society of Edinburgh on the evening of 9th May, 2019.

Participants wishing to find alternative accommodation should be aware that Edinburgh is an important touristic, cultural and business city and it has a wide range of Hotels and Bed and Breakfast provision for visitors.


All participants will receive an Edinburgh Reward Passport. It gives access to over 100 discounts and exclusive offers at a selection of the city’s restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and pre booked taxis. Details of the exclusive discounts and city map to show their locations are featured on the website www.edinburghrewards.com and on the printed passport distributed to symposium participants.
