Employment

Friends,

Graduation time has arrived. Some of those graduating are searching for employment. Everyone needs to work. Currently 8.8 percent or 582,000 people in Illinois are unemployed (March 2011). Many more are under employed. The lower the academic achievement the higher the unemployment rate. Schools help you build skill sets; however, employment courses are uncommon. The attached hyperlinked file is an employment primer.

The primer is one created via experience and tailored to those living in northern Illinois. The design is chronological. Young persons will learn progressively the skill sets needed to become higher income earners; and older workers will learn how to accentuate positives to gain reemployment.

The critical steps to employment are flexibility, rich and diverse skill sets, networking, interviewing, and negotiating. Each of these can be greatly expanded upon.

Young people will immediately gain from reference one on page nine. Some older workers (50-55+) will gain by noting the top of page eight. There is a potential conflict between SURS and Social Security for experienced workers planning retirement that have contributed to both.
