The database contains information on over 430 Scenarios from Squad Leader, Cross of Iron, Crescendo of Doom and G. I.: Anvil of Victory.  Sources include the Scenario Card, ROAR, Geolocation and historical resources.  This data may be retrieved using any one of the Scenario List, Map of Scenarios or Scenario Archive.  

Understanding the Data

• • Play Information

    • Record is from ROAR on Advancephase.

    • Verbos balance is calculated from Record as follows:

      • Balanced is 40% - 60% wins.

      • '+' is 60% to 80% wins.

      • '++' is 80% to 100% wins.

      • Draws are added to both sides in calculation.

    • Infantry to AFV measures intensity of armor

      • '1' is infantry only.

      • '2' is half-tracks and unarmored vehicles.

      • '3' is tanks, SPGs or Hts in supporting role.

      • '4' is strong AFV presence.

      • '5' is a dominant AFV presence.

      • Distribution is bell shaped.

  • Scenario Information

    • Piece counts include

      • SMC includes Leaders, Armor Leaders, Snipers and Heroes.

      • MMC include Squads, Crews and Half-squads.

      • AFVs include Tanks, SPGs and Half-tracks.

      • Transport includes non-armored vehicles, paratroop drops, boats, gliders, motorcycles, etc.

      • Guns include 5/8" counter ordnance.

      • OBA indicates number of artillery modules.

      • Fortifications are not counted but annotated.

    • Applicable Rules

      • Recognized in Infantry, Transport, Fortification columns.

      • Features contains counters, rules and selected AFV types.

  • Historical Information

    • Approximate geolocation

    • Occasional links to maps, ebooks, websites and Wikipedia in 'historical links' that provide context or details about the scenario.

    • Scrbd links may require premium membership. 9/mo or annual at 4/mo.  Cable should be so reasonable.

Scenario Archive

Use the Scenario Archive to search the Scenario Database for scenarios meeting specific criteria.  It opens to the first 47 scenarios included in the game and gamettes but can search all 460+ scenarios in the database.  Searching updates the List box and the Map is updated too.  Clicking a Scenario in the List Box displays more information in the box below it, including links to pdfs and historical resources.  

Searching the Archive

• • Basic criteria assist players in finding a game.  Record, Balance, Infantry to AFVs, Piece counts, Turns, Boards, Victory Conditions.

  • Advanced criteria are historical, rules and features based.  One can search by Date, Infantry Rules, Fortifications and the 'catch-all' Features.

  • Publisher criteria include designers and publications and release dates.  Look here for all the scenarios from the 'Series 100 pad.'

Tips for Searching

• • Hold the 'Ctrl' key while clicking to select multiple items such as Germans and Romanians.

• All selected items in all columns must be found.

  • • Selecting 'American Elite' and' Pulkkas' returns nothing because no scenario has both.

• • Reduce the criteria if no scenarios are returned.

  • The 'clear' button removes selected items.

  • The boxes search independently therefore 'SQL' selected in Basic does not affect a search in Advanced.

  • The search box will close when the search is complete.

  • Refresh the browser if it hangs although more results take more time.  2 to 3 minutes is enough.

  • All Scenarios are returned if  'SQL', 'COI', 'COD' and 'GIA' are selected with Ctrl key.

What to Search For

• • Operations or Battles - Search the dates of the event and view in the Map.  For example, searching Dec 16, 1944 to Jan 25, 1945 and opening 'Scenarios in List panel' in Maps returns all the scenarios covering the Battle of the Bulge.

  • Use the 'Advanced' box to search for specific features including Counters, Rules, AFV types and more.  For example, 

    • Select 'Flamethrower' in Features to find all scenarios with FTs.

    • Select 'SS Units' in Infantry Rules to find all the scenarios with SS. 

    • Select 'Tigers' in Features to find all the scenarios with Tigers.

    • Other criteria includes 'Stukas', 'Bridges', 'Fanaticism', 'JSs', 'AA88s', 'Pershings', etc.

    • Multiple selections work too, American Elite and SS Units returns scenarios with both.

  • Publications - One may search by publication such as 'Series 100' pad, 'Battleplan Magazine', 'AdvPhase TTS Series I', 'Cross of Iron game', 'War Game Academy', 'On All Fronts'.  One may further limit results by selecting a game(s).  Designer, Publisher and publication date are also searchable.
