The New Cub Trail
The Cub Program
In the last quarter of 2014, 1st Benoni adopted the New Cub Program.
On joining the Pack all boys and girls must complete the Membership Badge, the requirements for which are:
· Know and practise the Cub Law.
· Know and practise the Cub Promise.
· Know the Cub motto.
· Demonstrate the left handshake and know when it is used.
· Demonstrate the Cub salute and know when it is used.
· Do the Grand Howl and know when it is used.
· Have heard the story of Lord Baden-Powell, and how Cubbing began, and the story of "Mowgli's brothers".
The new Cub Program consists of 4 Components:
- Advancement Badges
- Interest Badges
- Leaping Wolf Badge
- Link Badge
1. Advancement Badges
Advancement badges consist of 2 levels
- Silver Wolf - Aimed at Mid-childhood (7 –8 years)
- Gold Wolf - Aimed at Late childhood (9 –10 years)
These advancement Badges are divided into the following challenges
- Awareness Challenge - (Body and Mind/Living with Nature)
- Community Challenge - (Service/Social)
- Outdoor Challenge (Scoutcraft)
- Aptitude Challenge - (Life Skills)
2. Interest Badges
One Interest badge may be earned per challenge above as per the diagram below for example.
3. Leaping Wolf
The Leaping Wolf Advancement is still as per the old Cub Program.
4. Link Badge
To prepare the Cub for the Troop.
5. How to wear the badges on the left sleeve of your uniform.
6. How to wear the Silver, Gold and Leaping Wolf badges on the breast above the pocket of your uniform.
