Culture Shock

It is clear that moving to another country can be a very stressful situation, especially if you are still at primary or secondary school. Leaving your friends behind and getting used to a completely different way of life can make us feel shocked.

The reading for this term has been "Culture Shock". This novel is about a girl called Paloma who, all of a sudden, finds out she has to move to London because her dad has found a job there. Having to leave everything behind, her new life is anything but easy. However, the novel deals more with her psychological shock than with culture shock in itself. Some of you have enjoyed reading it, others not so much. As they say in English: "it takes all sorts".

Ok, so who can tell us about a real "culture shock" then? Well, a truly English man who left his country 20 years ago in search of sun and paella, among other things.
