Letters Important to
this Sport Phaeton
This past year (2009) while at the Warren, Ohio Packard
event, we met Bob Supina and his wife, Gail. They had a
beautiful, 1937 Packard Town Car with a Rollston body
that was parked near our Sport Phaeton. We spent
some very enjoyable time with them.
Bob has been collecting information about very specific Packard
numbers for the "1937 Packard Twelve Directory". He has
been compiling this data since 1967. Bob sent out entry forms
for this data to be entered and returned for archiving.
One of the forms was sent to Al Dumrose, regarding his 1937
Convertible Sedan. The form was filled out and
returned to Bob. The second page is of particular interest
as it refers to the Sport Phaeton that we are featuring in these
presentations and photographs.
Michele and I never knew about this form. After a day or
two of chatting with the Supina's, Bob handed
Michele the form and note from Al. Forty two
years later and the writing in her father's
own hand... Needless to say, we knew what
"very obscure and very rare, perhaps one of a kind"
car he was writing about.
Al had chased that car for over twenty years before Mr. Wiley
would part with it. One of Mr. Dumrose's favorite sayings was
" All good things come to those who are patient".
The second paragraph of the second page mentions a very
special car that Al Dumrose is close to securing in several
years. The next two pages are the original form and note
from 1967.
Note the Post Script.
