Conference venue - Ostróda "Polish Pearl of Masuria"

The 14th International Conference on Human Rights is organized under honorary patronage of

the Mayor of Ostróda City - Czesław Najmowicz

Thanks to help, given to Organizers, by Mayor Czesław Najmowicz and his subordinates, the Conference will take place in Ostróda - picturesque city of the Masurian Lake District.

Ostróda is one of the most dynamically developing tourist towns in Poland. Called "Polish Pearl of Masuria", since the second half of the 19th century, it has been famous mainly for a unique canal connecting nearby lakes with the Vistula Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. The town has won several times the title of the most popular tourist location and Summer Capital Town of Warmia and Masuria. Located near five lakes, surrounded with dense forests and morainic hills, it attracts guest with unique climate and unusual attractions

Having almost 700-year long history and 33 thousand citizens, Ostróda is located at the mouth of the river Drwęca where it flows into Drwęckie Lake. The town is surrounded with forests and water - just within the town`s borders there are five lakes, other four are located in its immediate vicinity

Conference proceedings will take place in the Castle of Teutonic Order - the oldest monument of Gothic architecture in Ostróda. The castle was built in 1349-1370. After World War II the castle was competely burnt by the Soviet army. Reconstruction started in 1974. Currently the culture centre, a gallery, library and museum are located there*.
