Dear SIS Family,

The first week of school has come to an end, and we were very pleased and happy to see the students settling back in the most comfortable zone of learning, the school.

With the challenges that come along with the blended learning, from not being able to be present at school everyday to the pressing need to discover more about Microsoft Teams, I wanted to shed the light on the positive aspects of this learning structure:

Students have more exposure now than ever to the direct attention of the teacher due to the limited number of students per class
The teacher can work individually with the child whenever the need arises
Students have more varied resources to learn from including the teacher explanation, the virtual sessions and the instructional materials which cater for the different type of learners
Students are more disciplined and independant than before
Students are becoming more autonomous and aware of their capabilities

With that said, remains the challenging part of supporting parents while students are studying at home and helping them become more organised and better prepared for the upcoming day.

You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers of your child in the Virtual Open House this Saturday, September 12, 2020 to learn more about the curriculum, grading policy, classroom rules and regulations in addition to Microsoft Teams. Refer to the LEarning & teaching section to view the schedule of the meetings. The ZOOM meeting links will be sent on ClassDojo.

أعزاءنا أولياء الأمور الكرام

تحية طيبة وبعد،،

لقد انتهينا من الأسبوع الأول من الدراسة، وكنا سعداء للغاية لرؤية الطلاب يستقرون في أكثر مناطق التعلم راحة، وهي المدرسة.

مع التحديات التي تأتي مع برنامج التعلم المدمج من عدم القدرة على التواجد في المدرسة كل يوم إلى الحاجة الملحة لاكتشاف المزيد عن برنامج مايكروسوفت تيمز، أردت إلقاء الضوء على الجوانب الإيجابية لهيكل التعلم الجديد:

- يتمتع الطلاب الآن أكثر من أي وقت مضى باهتمام مباشر من المعلم بسبب العدد المحدود للطلاب في الفصل الواحد

- يمكن للمعلم العمل بشكل فردي مع الطفل كلما دعت الحاجة

- يمتلك الطلاب موارد أكثر تنوعًا للتعلم، بما في ذلك شرح المعلم والجلسات الافتراضية والمواد التعليمية التي تتناسب و جميع قدرات التعلم للطلاب

- أصبح الطلاب أكثر انضباطًا واستقلالية من ذي قبل

- أصبح لدى الطلاب الفرصة على تكوين نوع من الاستقلالية في الدراسة بالإضافة إلى إدراكهم لقدراتهم.

مع ذلك، يظل الجزء الصعب هو دعم أولياء الأمور أثناء دراسة الطلاب في المنزل ومساعدتهم على أن يصبحوا أكثر تنظيمًا واستعدادًا بشكل أفضل لليوم القادم.

Daily Schedules: The daily subject schedule sent last week clearly shows the distribution of In-Class (C), Virtual (V) and Independent (I) Sessions for a Three Weeks Cycle. This Cycle will be repeated every three weeks. It is very important that parents and students be mindful of which week is being followed. Kindly note that these schedules are subject to change according to the need and in case of new developments.

Virtual sessions: Starting this week (Sept.13-17), virtual classes will be conducted in the specified sessions according to the Remote Learning schedule for each student and according to the week we are in. Students will be required to follow teachers’ guidelines and Virtual sessions rules which were discussed with them during the In-class sessions. Parents Role (during Virtual Sessions):to ensure that the child is sitting in a quiet environment and having the schedule and the required material for the session nearby. This will facilitate the flow of the session. The students will need to follow the instructions of the teachers as assigned.

Independent sessions: Teachers are posting learning material on the File Section on Microsoft Teams. The files are arranged in folders with these labels: “Independent Work”, “Saturday Resources” and “Remote Learning Session Plan-RLSP”. Teachers will post an Announcement to list the order of work students need to follow during the independent sessions. Students must refer to the Remote Learning Session Plan-RLSP before starting the work, to understand what is required.

Parents Role (during Independent Sessions): to ensure that the child is sitting in a quiet environment and having the schedule and the required material for the session nearby. This will facilitate the flow of the session. The students need to go through the work independently (parent guidance is required for Year 1, 2 and 3 to read the instructions but not to drive the answers).

Homework/Assignments: Teachers will be sending HW and assignments using Microsoft Teams (as much as possible) to facilitate the process of completing the tasks and receiving the required work. Students will find the assignments/tasks in the Assignments Section on Microsoft Teams. For any other types of assignments, the students will be required to complete them and bring them to school during their In-class sessions. (Students who are exempted from school due to a chronic disease need to send the assignments to the teacher through MSTeams).

Grading: Teachers will be informing students of the graded HW/CW assignments and it is the responsibility of the students to complete the assigned work and submit it on time. Students will have graded assignments throughout the term and for all subjects, in addition to the Minor (On-going), Major (Mid-Term) and Exam (Final).

Assessments: All assessments, Minor (On-going), Major (Mid-Term) and Exam (Final), will be conducted at school for all students, except for those staying at home due to Medical Exemption (Kindly refer to Parents Letter 2 for details on Medical Exemptions).

Parents-Teachers Virtual Meeting Session (Open House): On Saturday September 12, 2020, SIS has arranged the first Parents-Teachers Virtual Meeting for Term 1, SY 20/21. Parents will be having the chance to meet the teachers virtually. The timings are from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Virtual Open House Meeting Schedule:

الجداول اليومية: يُظهر الجدول اليومي للمواد الدراسية الذي تم إرساله الأسبوع الماضي بوضوح توزيع الحصص في الفصل (C) الحصص الافتراضية (V) وحصص التعلم المستقل (I) لمدة ثلاثة أسابيع. ستتكرر هذه الدورة كل ثلاثة أسابيع. من المهم جدًا أن يكون أولياء الأمور والطلاب على دراية بالأسبوع الذي يتم اتباعه. يرجى ملاحظة أن هذه الجداول قابلة للتغيير حسب الحاجة في حالة أي تطورات جديدة.

حصص التعلم الافتراضية: بدءًا من هذا الأسبوع (من 13 إلى 17 سبتمبر)، سيتم عمل دروس افتراضية في الحصص المحددة وفقًا لجدول التعلم عن بعد لكل طالب ووفقًا للأسبوع الذي نحن فيه. سيُطلب من الطلاب اتباع إرشادات المعلمين وقواعد الحصص الافتراضية التي تمت مناقشتها معهم خلال الحصص داخل الفصول. دور الوالدين (خلال الجلسات الافتراضية): هو ضمان جلوس الطفل في بيئة هادئة وأن يكون لديه الجدول الزمني والمواد المطلوبة للدراسة لحضور الجلسة في مكان قريب. هذا سوف يسهل عليه استيعاب الدرس.

حصص التعلم المستقل: ينشر المعلمون المواد التعليمية في قسم الملفات في مايكروسوفت تيمز.

يتم ترتيب الملفات في مجلدات بهذه المسميات: "العمل المستقل" و "موارد يوم السبت" ، "وخطة حصة التعلم عن بعد ".سينشر المعلمون إعلانًا لسرد ترتيب العمل الذي يحتاج الطلاب إلى متابعته أثناء حصص التعلم المستقل. يجب على الطلاب الرجوع إلى خطة حصص التعلم عن بعد قبل بدء العمل لفهم ما هو مطلوب.

دور ولي الأمر (خلال حصص التعلم المستقل): ضمان جلوس الطالب في بيئة هادئة وأن يكون لديه الجدول الزمني والمواد المطلوبة للدراسة خلال جلسة التعلم في مكان قريب. هذا سوف يسهل عليه عملية استيعاب الدرس.

الواجبات المنزلية: سيرسل المعلمون الواجبات باستخدام ميكروسوفت تيمز (قدر الإمكان) لتسهيل عملية إكمال المهام واستلام العمل المطلوب. سيجد الطلاب الواجبات والمهام في ملف "قسم المهام" في مايكروسوفت تيمز بالنسبة لأي أنواع أخرى من المهام، سيُطلب من الطلاب إكمالها وإحضارها إلى المدرسة خلال حصصهم داخل الفصل.(يحتاج الطلاب الذين تم إعفاؤهم من المدرسة لعذر مرضي إلى إرسال المهام إلى المعلم من خلال مايكروسوفت تيمز)

الدرجات: سيقوم المعلمون بإبلاغ الطلاب بتعيينات الواجبات الصفية والمنزلية المتدرجة ويتحمل الطلاب مسؤولية إكمال العمل المعين وتقديمه في الوقت المحدد. سيحصل الطلاب على واجبات متدرجة طوال الفصل الدراسي ولجميع المواد، بالإضافة إلى التقييمات المستمرة واختبارات منتصف الفصل الدراسي والامتحان (النهائي).

التقييمات: سيتم إجراء جميع التقييمات، المستمرة واختبارات منتصف الفصل الدراسي والاختبار (النهائي) في المدرسة لجميع الطلاب، باستثناء أولئك الذين لديهم إعفاء طبي (يرجى الرجوع إلى خطاب الوالدين 2 للحصول على تفاصيل حول الإعفاءات الطبية).

اليوم المفتوح الإفتراضي بين أولياء الأمور والمعلمين:سيكون في يوم السبت الموافق 12 سبتمبر 2020 ، نقوم بتنظيم أول اجتماع افتراضي بين أولياء الأمور والمعلمين للفصل الدراسي الأول للعام الأكاديمي 2020-2021. ستتاح الفرصة لأولياء الأمور لمقابلة المعلمين بشكل افتراضي. المواعيد من 9:00 صباحًا إلى 12:00 ظهراً. يرجى الاطلاع على جدول الاجتماع الافتراضي:

SIS Arabic Department:

كان اسبوعًا رائعًا بالنسبة لنا حيث عمانا مع طلابنا بالصفوف، وقد واجهتنا بعض الصعوبات لكن بتعاونكم تم تجاوزها والحمد لله.

تم رفع بعض المهام على برنامج (Teams) خلال هذا الأسبوع، وقد حرصنا على أن نستمع لآراء واقتراحاتكم وملاحظاتكم للتعامل معها حرصًا منا على التكامل، وتسهيل عملية التعلم لطلابنا في المنزل.
تم العمل على خطة وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي من خلال اعتماد الفيديوهات المقدمة من الوزارة لطلابنا مع الفيديوهات المقدمة منا عن طريق إرسال (2 فيديو) كل أسبوع للغة العربية في التعلم المنزلي، حرصًا منا على تنفيذ توجيهات وتعليمات الوزارة.
تم توجيه المعلمات إلى تنظيم العمل المقدم للطلاب بحيث يكون من السهل على الطلاب الوصول إلى المواد المقدمة والواجبات فرديًا.
تم إنشاء قنوات خاصة لكل مجموعة من الطلاب حتى تكون ساحة إلكترونية للتفاعل والردود والمشاركات الطلابية الجماعية، ولذلك لتعزيز العمل الجماعي لدى الطلاب.

نؤكد حرصنا على ملاحظاتكم المستمرة ونشكركم على كل ما يؤدي إلى جودة التعليم بالمدرسة.

It was a great week for us as we worked with our students in classes, and we encountered some difficulties, but with your cooperation we were able to surpass all.

Some tasks were uploaded to the (Teams) program during this week, and we were keen to listen to your opinions, suggestions and observations to deal with them in order to ensure our integration and facilitate the learning process for our students at home.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s plan was worked out by adopting the videos provided by the ministry to our students with the videos provided by us and sending (2 videos) every week for the Arabic language for the home learning, in order to ensure that we implement the ministry’s directives and instructions

The teachers have been directed to organize the work presented to the students on TEAMS so that it is easy for students to access the submitted materials and assignments individually.

Special channels have been created for each group of students in order to be an electronic platform for interaction, responses and student group participation, and for this purpose, to enhance the collective work of students.

We thank you for your continuous support that leads to the enhancement of the quality of education at school.

SIS Student Affairs Corner:

Please ensure that students have a decent, healthy breakfast before coming to school or whilst working at home. This helps them stay focused and active during lessons.
It would benefit your child if you follow a schedule or routine at home.
Students can be ready for Independent or Virtual sessions at home, by preparing all their materials before the session starts.
Encourage (especially KS2) students to work independently.
Ensure that all clothing items, stationery and books are labelled. It is vital, now more than ever, that learners come to school and return home with their belongings.
Feel free to send students to school with a storybook of their own (from home) for their scheduled reading time in the morning, when they are at school.

Thank you for your continued support as we aim to provide our students with a high quality of learning and teaching.

- يرجى التأكد من حصول الطالب على وجبة فطور صحية مفيدة قبل القدوم إلى المدرسة أو أثناء الدراسة في المنزل. هذا يساعدهم على التركيز والنشاط أثناء تلقي الدروس.

- سيفيد طفلك إذا اتبعت جدولاً أو روتيناً في المنزل.

- يمكن للطلاب أن يكونوا مستعدين للحصص المستقلة أو الافتراضية في المنزل، من خلال إعداد جميع المواد الخاصة بهم قبل بدء الحصة.

- تشجيع الطلاب بالمرحلة الثانية ( رابع- خامس و سادس ) على العمل بشكل مستقل.

- تأكد من وضع ملصق باسم الطالب على جميع مقتنياته (الملابس والأدوات المكتبية والكتب والدفاتر). من الضروري، الآن أكثر من أي وقت مضى أن يأتي الطلاب إلى المدرسة ويعودون إلى منازلهم مع أغراضهم الشخصية.

- لا تتردد في إرسال الطلاب إلى المدرسة مع كتاب خاص بهم أو قصه (من المنزل) لوقت القراءة المحدد في الصباح، عندما يكونون في المدرسة.

نشكركم على دعمكم المستمر لأننا نهدف إلى تزويد طلابنا بجودة عالية من التعلم والتعليم.

SIS Social Worker:

This is a kind reminder to adhere to student attendance according to the schedule assigned to each class and group, as this has an impact on the educational and behavioral level of students.

- Students should eat healthy food that contains vegetables, fruits and proteins, in order to preserve their health

- School uniform is what students must wear, and whoever does not have a school uniform yet, kindly dress appropriately for the school.

- Students should not wear gold items inside the school.

الرجاء الالتزام بحضور الطلاب طبقا للجدول المخصص لكل صف لما فى ذلك من أثر على المستوى التعليمي والسلوكي للطلاب

علي الطلاب الالتزام بالطعام الصحي الذي يحتوى علي الخضروات و الفاكهه و البروتينات وذلك حفاظا منا على صحة أطفالنا

كذلك الالتزام بالزي الرسمي للمدرسة، ومن لم يتوفر لديه الزى المدرسي، يجب عليه ارتداء زي لائق عند حضوره للمدرسة

الرجاء عدم ارتداء المقتنيات الذهبية للبنات داخل المدرسة

If your child or child's first degree relative has chronic disease (living in the same house) and your student did not attend school, get a school exemption medical report and submit to the school office not later than 13 th of september.
